Welcome to St Peter's Church in the Parish of Llanwenarth Citra
St Peter’s Church is a small country church in a beautiful setting in the Usk valley just outside Abergavenny. Its near-circular churchyard would indicate that there has been a place of worship on this site since Celtic times. The church was once the parish church of Aberstruth which was a huge area stretching as far as Abertillery and Blaina to the south. In the 18th century, the two parishes of Llanwenarth Citra and Llanwenarth Ultra [the other side] [Govilon] were linked by a ferry across the Usk. The ferry closed in 1955.
It is a popular church for weddings – seating 100 -130 guests and also serves as a concert venue as it has a good acoustic.
We are extending the trial period of the earlier service time of 9.30 instead of 10.00.
